s Director Sam Raimi (guy on the left) may be done with the Spider-Man franchise but he's not done with comic books. Raimi will write and direct the movie adaptation of the Radical graphic novel Earp: Saints for Sinners. It's a modern-day western where the United States has been mostly destroyed except for Las Vegas where Wyatt Earp continues to fight outlaws. The graphic novel was created by an exec at film studio Mandeville which will also produce. (This is a growing trend where screenwriters and studio execs are creating projects as comic books or graphic novels which THEN are made into movies . . . it seems to be happening as Hollywood shuns original screenplays in preference of adapting a book, old movie, board game, toy, etc. that is already "established.")
Radical has aggressively been pursuing the Marvel Studios business model as a comic-book publisher openign their own "studio" and making movies out of their own properties. It recently signed a deal with actor Sam Worthington's production company to let him make movies with their properties.
