"Variety" writer Justin Kroll wrote an excellent article on how Judd Apatow is the ultimate mentor to actors, encouraging young actors to start writing their own material...then, a lot of the time, he'll produce the film and get it made (see Jay Baruchel, Seth Rogen, Aziz Ansari, Jonah Hill and Jason Segal). Justin, by the way, is an example of taking his shot and running with it. Following college, he started working for "Variety" as an unpaid intern, showed what a hard worker and team player he could be, turned the internship into a paid job and is now a staff writer!
