"Fraggle Rock" was a hit musical kids TV show that aired on HBO in the 1980s that featured singing muppets named Fraggles who live in a cave with other muppet races, the small industrious Doozers and giant furry Gorgs who don't like the Fraggles. Source: THR June 15, 2010 -- Happy little "Fraggle Rock" may be getting the Batman Begins treatment: The Weinsten Company is reportedly looking to hire a new writer on the script for the movie adaptation of HBO's '80s muppet TV show that will be "edgier." Fraggle Rock director and writer Cory Edwards said on his blog that TWC is hiring the writer without his consent, protesting, "Like Toy Story, Fraggle Rock's success is not only due to its anti-edginess, but in its absolute DEFIANCE of all that is edgy and trendy and pop in this world." UPDATE: Two years have passed and things are completely different for the Fraggle Rock movie. It's now at a different studio, New Regency. They've hired writer Jim Byrkit and voice over artist Alex Manugian, both fromĀ Rango, to write the script. They wrote the upcoming Disney movie Fleeced. The Jim Henson Co. and Montecito Picture Co. are making the movie.
